Week 4:
Welcome back!
Meetings and work on the Children's book project
Remember, it's due on Monday, so use your class time well!
Tips on scanning:
- Check the glass before
you scan. Cleaning the glass never hurt anyone!
- Make sure the image is as straight as possible when you scan.
- Avoid vibrations and motion.
- 300 ppi is the best
resolution to scan with. You can always shrink your files down later,
but not make them larger.
- Part of the fun in scanning
from newspapers and magazines is getting the texture of the page, but
if your software has the option, you can choose to have it "descreen" your
image/text. That should remove the appearance of the printed dots (halftone
patterns) in the material.
- Scan color images in RGB mode. If you want,
convert to CMYK later, before printing.
- Scan b+w images/text in grayscale
mode.
