Week 3

Topics: Text, font history, how to alter frame and text colors, character and paragraph palettes

Monday is our first quiz (Review sheet, once again, is here)

Reading:

InDesign 1on1: pgs. 85,87, 89-89 (to Font Size and Color)
Take note of the palettes shown on p. 91, Read 94-95; 120-121

Homework:

1. Download this .PDF of the character and paragraph palettes and follow the instructions to label the proper areas.

2.

  • On a blank page in InDesign, choose a font that you feel represents you, and type your name in that font, with the size set to 36pts. (You can choose any part of your name you want. First, Last, Middle, Nickname, or any combination of the above.)
Please write a few lines underneath in any 12 pt. font that explain why you chose the font you did.
  • Next, type your name in a font that you feel does NOT represent you and explain why, just as you did above. Stick to 36pts. for your name and 12pts. for the size again.
  • Pick a person you admire and typeset their name in a font you think represents them. Explain why you chose the font you did. Same type sizes.

3. Staple the above together and write your name on the back.

Remember to watch the margin guides and drag a text box in order to type!
