Week 1

This website will always tell you what we're doing each week as well as what files you need for projects, and what the reading is.

To start off, consider downloading Adobe Illustrator CS2
(This is a more recent version than we have in the classroom, so please keep in mind that you'll have to save your files as an older version of Illustrator to use them in the classroom too.)

Introduction to course concepts. Discussion of sketchbook requirements. Portrait vs. Landscape, positive/negative space, visual and conceptual elements

Reading:Design Fundamentals Ch. 2 (you might know a lot of this, so skim it)
Read p. 23-25 closely.
Read p. 51 - Form, Line, Figure, Ground.

What is graphic design? (Wikipedia will tell you!)

Also check out this website on study skills and general classroom behavior.

Sketchbook Idea:A dream that you had

First SB is due in a week so hurry up and get yours! Remember, it must be 8.5x11" minimum, and wire-bound is best. Look for more than 50 pages, unlined.

Homework:

Label a copy of the Illustrator workspace (due Monday, March 13). I will give you a copy of the file in class, but if you lose it, use this file (.pdf)
