How to open/ place files from the CD

Because our classes are scheduled in the Windows labs, these screen captures show Windows. Opening from a Mac is the same process (actually, it's easier because you can just double-click the CD from your desktop and you don't have to go through InDesign.)

Step 1 (This is the same for File>Open and File>Place )

Find the DKIDCS2 disc in your list (It may not be E: on your machine)

 

Step 2: Double-click "Lesson Files" folder

Step 3: Ask yourself why there are two folders for "Lesson Files", but double-click anyway.

Step 4: You'll have a choice between all of Lesson folders. Your book will tell you which to choose.

Step 5: Choose the file you want to open and double-click.

Remember, File>Open only shows you InDesign documents. If you wan to put text
or images on a page, use File>Place.
